Ubiquitous Computing

IMG_5907The Research Group for Ubiquitous Computing at the Faculty of Informatics of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) was established in 2008 and is led by Prof. Marc Langheinrich. It is primarily active in three different areas: Systems, Human Computer Interaction, and Security and Privacy.

You can find more information about our goals and projects on our research pages, as well as by perusing our list of publications. Current and prospective students might want to take a look at the courses offered by members of the group. If you are interested in doing a Master or Bachelor project in this area, look at our list of current theses projects and then contact us via email (or simply stop by our offices). We are also always looking for talented individuals who want to join our team! If you are interested in joining us as a postdoctoral fellow or PhD student, see our open positions.

See also the separate events page for the full list of upcoming (and past) events co-organized by (or with participation from) our research group members.

ubiquitous The term Ubiquitous Computing describes the next generation of embedded computing platforms, which will allow us to equip all of our everyday artifacts with sensing, computation, and communication capabilities, thus significantly altering our experience on how to interact with computers. Since ubiquitous computing will pervade almost every aspect of our lives, not only sound system architectures and user interfaces will become issues of prime importance, but also social aspects such as trust and privacy.
